For nearly 75 years, Fallon Clinic has held a tradition steeped in rich quality and is nationally recognized for excellence in clinical quality. But like many multispecialty group practices around the country, Fallon Clinic has experienced a number of economic challenges more recently, including decreases in its patient base, as competition and other economic factors have increased. In response to these changes, Fallon Clinic has scrutinized every element of its former strategy, operational procedure, and contractual relationships and has embarked on a process of strategic transformation. This article focuses on the element of Fallon Clinic’s strategy, with primary focus on the first two phases of transformation: (1) moving from exclusivity to a multi-payer strategy and (2) becoming the gold standard of service in health care.
